Late to a Co-op Live Event? Parking Pitfalls to Avoid
There's a particular kind of stress that comes with running late to a big night out. You've been looking forward to the gig for months, the support act has probably already started, and now you're crawling through East Manchester traffic wondering whether your parking spot is still waiting for you. It's not a great feeling.
If you're heading to Co-op Live or the Etihad Stadium and you've pre-booked parking, knowing exactly how the timing works before you leave the house can save you a serious headache. Here's what you actually need to know.
When Does the Car Park Open and Close?
Let's start with the basics, because this is where most confusion creeps in.
For Co-op Live events, our car park opens at 2:30pm and runs until midnight. That window is consistent across events, so you can plan around it regardless of when your show starts.
For Etihad Stadium and Manchester City fixtures, we open 2 hours before kick-off and close 1 hour after full time. So if kick-off is at 3pm, we're open from 1pm. If the match wraps up at 4:45pm, you've got until 5:45pm to collect your vehicle.
These windows are generous by design. We want you arriving relaxed, not rushed.
What Happens If You Arrive Late?
This is the question most people don't think to ask until it becomes a problem. The honest answer is: if you arrive within the operating window, you're absolutely fine. Your space is guaranteed because you've pre-booked it. We're not a first-come, first-served car park where spaces disappear while you're stuck on the A662.
Your booking holds your space. All you need to do is show up, present your QR code (sent to you instantly via email and SMS when you booked), and our stewards will guide you straight in.
Where things get trickier is if you arrive outside the operating window. If you turn up after midnight for a Co-op Live event, for example, or after the post-match closing time for an Etihad fixture, we can't guarantee access or accommodation. And under our cancellation policy, arriving outside your booked time window is a non-refundable circumstance, so there's no recourse on the booking itself. The solution is simple: know the closing time before you go.
The Exit Timing Problem Nobody Talks About
Getting in is only half the battle. Getting out at the end of a packed event is where most people lose time they didn't account for.
After a major Co-op Live show or a sold-out City match, thousands of people are heading for the exits at roughly the same moment. If you parked on a street or in a surface-level public car park, you could be sitting in a queue for 30 to 45 minutes before you even move.

Plan Your Walk (or Take the Shuttle)
We're located at Canal Side Works, Hulme Hall Lane, Manchester, M40 8YD. If you're new to the area, just enter that postcode into your sat-nav and it'll bring you straight to our gates. You'll also get the address in your confirmation email.
From the car park, it's a 10 to 13-minute walk to both Co-op Live Arena and the Etihad Stadium. That's genuinely manageable, and the route is well-lit. If walking isn't your preference, we have a shuttle bus available on-site to get you there and back without the legwork.
Factor that 10 to 13 minutes into your arrival time, particularly if you're cutting it fine for a show start. Arriving at the car park at 7:28pm for a 7:30pm show means you're still 10 minutes from the doors.
Don't Leave Cancellation Too Late Either
One more timing consideration worth flagging: our cancellation policy has a hard line at 7 days before your booking. Cancel before that threshold and you'll receive a refund minus a £10 administration fee. Cancel within 7 days, for any reason including no-show or a change of plans, and the booking is strictly non-refundable.
We're transparent about this because event parking is high-demand and spaces are limited. When someone books and doesn't show, that space could have gone to another customer. Book Before Someone Else Does
The best way to avoid every timing problem in this post is to sort your parking before the event is sold out of spaces.
